Cotococha Amazon Lodge is fully aware of our responsibility towards the vulnerable Amazon Rainforest. We have taken a variety of measures to protect the ­environment and support the local communities:




We use solar panels to produce electricity that provide you with warm water in the showers and allow you to charge your electronic devices in the social area. In addition, the lodge uses oil lamps and candle lights to illuminate the cabins and the paths leading to them, creating a unique ambiance;
A water treatment system makes sure no contaminated water spills into the jungle;
Solid waste is recycled as much as possible;
Domestic animals are not allowed in the lodge to not impact the local flora and fauna;
About 75% of the employees come from local communities and all guides are from the Napo region;
Local suppliers are contracted for transportation and the local production of handicrafts and other arts is stimulated by offering them to the guests;
The entrance fees of the butterfly garden and the animal rescue center support local initiatives contributing to environmental protection. 

1. Got better and better each day...

Went to Cotococha with my best friend for an Amazon adventure and we couldn't have had a better trip! To start, the staff at Cotococha was amazing. Karen, the rest of the staff and tour guides were so sweet to us, and made sure we were having a great time!! Shout out to Marco and Yacu for taking us on some thrilling excursions. Climbing waterfalls, feeding monkeys, white water rafting, night walks, and much more!!! Our room was beautiful, overlooking the Napo..just be prepared to share it with some little creatures! The food was delicious and they were more than glad to accommodate to my taste - no seafood. Everything about Cotococha was amazing, the views, the staff, the trips, the food, the Caipirinhas!!! Thank you we cannot wait to come back!

2. Awesome day trips and lodge

This hotel is located right on the Napo River. You can hear the river from most rooms. Once you arrive, you only leave the hotel by boat to visit the sites and attractions of the Amazon basin. The day trips are great. During our three night stay, we were able to see woolly monkeys, capuchin monkeys, many birds (including a hoatzin) and caimans. The chance to visit the Quichua Tribe and use a blow gun was a once in a lifetime experience. Food, service and staff were excellent. It was no big deal lacking electricity in the cabins. Every night when returning from dinner, we found two oil lamps at our cabin door. They burned through the night and made the jungle experience even more fun. There is no wifi anywhere on the grounds, so you should purchase an international plan before arriving if you feel you need it. Our 18 year old son managed to survive without it. I don't think he missed it all that much. After dinner you are exhausted from the day's activities and you just want to go to bed anyway. The pool is a nice amenity after being out in the hot sun all day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in this area.

3. Perfect introduction to the Amazon rainforest

We loved our stay at Cotococha, it was the perfect way to see some of the Amazon rainforest without having to travel too far from Quito. The lodge is beautiful, our room looked right over the Napo river. The staff and guides were friendly and nearly everyone spoke English. We actually really enjoyed the lack of electricity and WiFi, it made our stay so much more relaxing. The lodge is in the rainforest, so there are obviously going to be bugs, however they were not that bad, and it adds to the adventure (but there are also large mosquito nets over the beds that you can use too). We would definitely recommend staying here!
