For eco tourists who enjoy a touch of adventure when they go travelling the Ulu Temburong National Park in Brunei is just the thing. Located in the Temburong district of Brunei the park covers an area of over 500 square kilometres and is only accessible by boat.
One of the reasons that visitors have to travel by boat to get to the park is that Brunei takes the environment very seriously. There are no roads or paths and with the only route to the park being via a traditional longboat, you are experiencing the local culture whilst directly contributing towards the local economy. A win win situation.
Once there you able to enjoy tremendous views of the park whilst walking miles and you can do this all without causing any interference to the local wildlife. A series of bridges span vast area of the park allowing visitors a unique experience. There are over 4 miles of various walkways for visitors to use without ever stepping foot on the ground.
The canopy walkway is one of the highlights of the park. This bridge stands over 15o feet high and if you are lucky, you can use it as an opportunity to see snakes that live high up in the trees.
When it comes to fauna and flora the park is one of the most diverse in the world. As well as numerous beautiful species of animals and flowers there are literally hundreds of various types to butterfly living in the park for visitors to admire during their visit.
