The second city of Burkina Faso is Bobo Dioulasso, a crowded and animated city in the sub tropical south of the country nearby the ivorian border. During the winter time, not many tourists are visiting the town and the local guides are happy to show you around to gain some money. It was Bara who found me on the city market and proposed me to guide me through the ancient town of Bobo Dioulasso where the people of the Bobo is living. The houses are old and built by the hand. Bara was the son of one of the eldest of the neighbourhood so that we could walk around and enter in almost any house. Everywhere I met different people who shared stories of the Bobo, some mystical, some incredible, some about tehir long history of concurrenc to the people of the Diola, living in the other parts of the city. During a few hours he would show me traditional handcraft, the historical mosque, I would talk to the chief of the neighbourhood and finally he would make me watch and feed the holy fishes of the tribe of the Bobo. I was kind of dissapointed because he would not stop talking about the fishes and their strong symbolic for the people. The river where I could see them then was very dirty and I wondered how the fishes could survive. At the end, while drinking a nice and cold coke he proposed me to meet and chose one of his sisters. It was not easy to explain that I had a girlfriend and i did not want to marry and stay.
