Initiated after a visit in Jan 2010, when we made a small journey through the communtitis of this districts Parbat and Myagdi. These areas, also has the famous himalayan peaks such as Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri, that creates the deepest gorge in the world, where the sacred river Kali flows down the valley. We started our walk after a drive to a small town of Galeshwor and took journey through the villages of Bas Kharka, the orange farming hill side country, the remote village of Danda kateri, Nangi the center of this area where the most of vilalges gets the benefits of school and other activities. The spectecular Mohare hill at an elevation of 3300m after Nangi, offers the most stunning mountans views, scenic rolling and green hills in the south. Danda Kharka, located in the midle of the lush rhododendron forest is followed by the vilalge of Histan, a cultural highlights.
Then we continued to Swanta to the another alpine and spectecular hill of Khopar at 3600m, located right next to the towering and mighty Annapurna South (7200m) and Annapurna Fang (7700m), just opposite of another Himalayan giants Dhaulagiri range. After this wonderful visit, we dropped down to the Narchayng and the this deepest gorge of Kali river and drove back. It was an amazing trek with a great cause and of course it has all the ingredients that the visitors are looking for, culture, nature and its always exciting and adventurous walks till the end. The mountains of the Himalayas are just amazing site and is very inspiring. Both Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri I are over 8000m in height famouse for many mountaineeing expeditions.
The culture of various ethnic tribe such as Magar, Gurung, Takali, Chhetris and Dalits are a great experience to explore.
The area is extremely rich in its biodiversity and hosts the huge number of herbal plants and other useful plants and trees. The bird life if one of the largest collection here in the area including all types of the Pheasants found in Nepal. The rare and endangered animals such as Snow Leopards in the higher areas and Common Leopard in the lowers along with Red Pandas etc inhabitats the area.
Apart from its all specteculars, this area is least traveled so far and is still intact in terms of environmental aspects.
The trek journey for us lasted for a wk long but there are clearly two or three options of 5-10 days of hiking in this area, that people can choose from according to the time available. The trek is quire suitable for all group of people and ages who are looking for the real and meaningful treks rather than the normal treks that everyone does.
