Multnomah County is one of 36 counties in the US State of Oregon. IT is part of the Portland metropolitan area and although the smallest county in the area, it is the most populous at nearly three quarters of a million.
One of the most popular things for the ecotourist to visit whilst in this wonderful US county is Multnomah Falls. Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. It is credited by a sign at the site of the falls, and by the United States Forest Service, as the second tallest year-round waterfall in the United States.
An eco tour of the falls is available from Eco Tours of Oregon and is an absolute must for the green traveller who wants to get up close to the falls. This is really a top website for all things ecotourism in Multnomah and Oregon as a state, and includes Whale Watching Tours and Native American Cultural Tours.
When looking for a place to stay then the ecotourist can do no better than check out and and check into the DoubleTree Hotel in Portland. The DoubleTree’s key priorities include community involvement, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and localized purchasing while providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for every guest.
