Any green traveler visiting Kakadu national park will want to plan ahead before going. Located within the Alligator Rivers region in the Northern Territory, the park is the size of a small country and as such, you should consider accommodation before travelling.
The Kakadu Ubirr YHA hostel is one to consider when looking for somewhere to lay your head. Although basic, the hostel is very affordable, is close to some major attractions such as the Ubirr Rock, and has a shop close by that should be able to provide you with most of what you need should you wish to explore the area, watch the wildlife or go fishing.
If you are interested in Australia’s culture and history the Ubirr is well worth visiting. Renowned for its Aboriginal rock paintings, Ubirr has evolved through the last two millennia with the paintings being updated even in modern times. As well as a great collection of real art, the Ubirr Rock offers one of the most stunning views you are likely to find in the whole of Australia.
If you are a fan of waterfalls the Jim Falls will take your breath away. At nearly 700 feet high, these waterfalls are a wonder to behold. However, you will want to plan well depending on when you go. When dry there are times when the falls can be accessed by car. However, if there has been a lot of rain you will have to take the boat to get a look. If in doubt, it may be advisable to take the Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls tour and enjoy it with an expert guide.
Kakadu Nation Park takes its environmental responsibilities seriously and as such, is protected by the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (the EPBC Act)
