Any ecotourist visiting Switzerland should take the time to enjoy Geneva and the Jet D’eau. Visible from anywhere in the city lies Geneva’s most famous landmark, the Jet D’eau. Located on the mouth of Lake Geneva the fountain jets water around 460 feet into the air and is quite a site.
Switzerland can be a very expensive country so it’s always prudent to shop around for accommodation, restaurants and anything else you need. The Novatel Geneva Centre is an ideal location to lay your head during your vacation. As well as being reasonably priced for the standard the hotel is environmentally friendly and close to the Jet D’eau. The hotel is in the city centre and close to plenty of restaurants, shops and other amenities.
There are plenty of tours available to help you get the best out of your visit to Geneva, however, the best way to appreciate any place you visit I often on foot. A Walk on the Waterside takes you on a tour along the banks of the Rhone. Here you can learn about the Jet D’eau as well other aspects of Geneva and its relationship with water. The tour is every Sunday at 10.30am and is in English and French.
The Geneva Transportation Card: Pubic transport in Geneva is very good as well as being environmentally friendly. With the transportation card you have unlimited access to the public transport throughout the entire city. This is something you should definitely go for as if you pay for a cab from the airport to the hotel you are likely to need a stiff drink when you get the bill.
Switzerland, and indeed Geneva take their environmental responsibilities seriously. The city is beautiful, and one of the cleanest in the world.
