In 1990, Bruce Poon Tip founded G Adventures with nothing more than two credit cards and a burning desire to create an authentic, sustainable travel experience like nothing the world had ever seen. By offering adventure-craving travellers an alternative to the resorts, cruises and motorcoach tours they were accustomed to, he not only changed the way people looked at their holiday time, but changed the face of travel forever. Twenty years later, the only thing that hasn’t changed is an inherent belief in the core values that continue to inspire our being and business today.
We Love Changing Lives / Do The Right Thing / Create Happiness and Community:
G Adventures also run Planeterra, a not-for-profit organisation endorsed by the UN that helps give back to the communities that we travel through. Planeterra currently supports 40+ projects around the world directly but is also at the heart of all of our tours which only use local transport & accommodation as well as helping to build innovative tourism projects that help train local communities to benefit from the good force of travel.
Lead With Service:
Put simply we believe in providing customer service that makes people go 'wow' (including you). We provide more 'guaranteed departures' than anyone else, are open 24/7 and provide Lifetime Deposits so that noone is penalised for changing plans (i.e. higher conversion retention).
Embrace the Bizarre:
Boldly embark down a path less travelled. Bizarre? Maybe. Exciting? You bet. Coincidence? Absolutely not.
How do you envision our world in 50 years? Our efforts in sustainability as an organization reflect our commitment to the idea that our children and grandchildren will have a wonderful natural environment to explore throughout their lives. Our role as a company is to ensure that we’re giving back more to the communities and the natural surroundings that we help you to visit than what is being taken away in our travels. Preserving cultural heritage and conserving and replenishing the natural environment, while improving the lives of local people, is the essence of our way of travelling and is integrated into every decision and action we take at G Adventures.
Stay on the trail: Straying from the trail while hiking can cause erosion and other environmentally harmful impacts.
Respect the wildlife: View animals from a safe distance without affecting their natural behaviour. Touching, feeding, or harassing animals to get a photo is considered unethical travel.
Respect endangered species: Do not buy products that exploit wildlife, aid in habitat destruction, or come from endangered species.
Do not litter: Even if you see a local person littering, set an example and dispose of your garbage appropriately.
Reduce waste: Recycling is extremely limited or non-existent in most developing countries. Avoid products with excess packaging; opt for beverages in glass bottles as they tend to be re-used. Try not to use plastic bags and consider bringing along rechargeable batteries.
