Spotted Lake - Canada

Located near the city of Osoyoos in British Columbia, Canada's Spotted Lake is a must for ecotravellers and draws thousands and thousands of visitors from around the world to come and see this beautiful and natural phenomenon. When the water level is low, the calcium, sodium and magnesium sulphate, silver and titanium filled lake dissolves and separates into more than 365 separate pools, forming strange circular swirling patters that you walk in and amongst and around.

Iguazu National Park - Argentina

First established as a national park in 1934 Iguazu national park is probably the most stunning of all of Argentina's parks. A haven for the eco-tourist this park is home to many beautiful sites and a range of stunning landscape, the most notable of which is the world famous Iguazu waterfalls.

Located on the border between Argentina and Brazil, the Iguazu waterfall is something to behold. At 80 meters high and with a diameter of nearly 3km the only way to really appreciate the waterfalls are to see them in the flesh.

Danxia Landforms - China

The Danxia landforms are the various landscapes found in southeast and southwest China which consist of steep cliffs naturally decorated with red 'beds'. Theses landforms are unique amongst all rock formations in the world. They are formed from red sandstone which date back largely to the Cretaceous period. Peculiar to the landscape of Danxia is the development of numerous caves of varying sizes, shapes and depths. Six of the formations in 2010 were pronounced to be UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Flaming Crater, Derweze - Turkmenistan

Derweze is an isolated village in Turkmenistan with a very sparse population of just 350 inhabitants located in the middle of the Karakum Desert. The Derweze Area is rich in natural gas. Whilst drilling in 1971, geologists tapped into a cavern filled with this gas, and the ground beneath the drilling rig collapsed, leaving a huge gaping wound in the Earth's very crust about 70m (230ft) in diameter.
