Reef to Rainforest

Last year I was offered voluntary redundancy, and being wonderfully bored and frustrated with the rat-race, I gnawed their corporate arms off for some free cash and some time to go and do my eco-thang in some far flung country where loincloths were haute-couture. My country of choice was Belize in Central America.

Go be a Gobi Explorer

Taming the Gobi Desert has never been more exciting and accessible. Picture yourself stepping off a flight across the Pacific and onto Mongolian soil. Far beyond the beaten path, this vast country offers everything a true world-traveler could hope to find, and the most diverse of climates, wildlife, and outdoor activities that could possibly be fit into a single country. Yet even in such a remote corner of the world, amenities abound with the region's premier outfitters, Nomadic Expeditions.

Cuba

By Laeti, 08/22/2011 - 19:56

I have dreamt Cuba for years and finally I managed to go there! It was like be carried 50 years ago....see things and a way of life I just heard about from my granmother's tales. A big shock considering our way of life but simpler and more genuine.

We stayed few days in La Habana where we stayed and eat in a lovely Casa particular in Old Havana (simple place but really really nice as well as the host family!)

Ecotourism in Latvia: The Baltic's Hidden Treasure

Latvia is one of those rare treasures that seems to have it all: an impressive ecosystem, captivating culture, dedication to ecotourism, and the air of being unspoiled, yet ideally poised for ecotourists. The country, with its small population and well-developed infrastructure, has flown under the radar since its behind-the-Iron-Curtain days, despite having more than enough diversity to satisfy any type of tourist.

Ecotourism in Chile

So narrow it's almost invisible on a map, Chile does anything but blend in when you see it in real life. This visually diverse country is comprised of five tourist regions, all of which are home to some exquisite ecotourism opportunities. In addition to the prevalence of ecotourism in Chile, sustainable development and responsible travel thinking are prioritised here.

Ecotourism in Germany: To The Beach

When you think of a trip to Germany, you're typically thinking about beer, saurkraut, and the Autobahn. Now, you can add beaches to that list. That's right, beaches. Turns out Germany's northeastern seafront is the place to see and be seen when summer's heat tops the mercury. While completely frigid during the winter, the beaches along the North and Baltic Seas begin to sizzle once the sun comes out, making resorts in this area a popular destination for Germans, especially Berliners.

Ecotourism in Mexico

Famed for its all-inclusive resorts and postcard-perfect beaches, Mexico is a destination frequented by tourists seeking sun, sand, and sea. However, relaxing all-inclusive vacations aren't what Mexico is all about, and ecotourism in Mexico is an exciting and viable option for those looking to add some jalape?os to their Mexican vacation.

Bulgaria - Eco-tourism with Natural Spas and Windmills

Bulgaria is one of those unique European countries where east meets west, a country that has rich and diverse cultural traditions that comprise Mediterranean, Asian and Bulgarian traditions. It also straddles three completely different bio-geological regions, European forest, Eurasian steppe and the Mediterranean. Bulgaria is full of wide-open plains, deep dark forests, meandering rivers and tranquil lakes.
