Cano Crystales (Crystal River or the River of Five Colours) Colombia

A unique biological wonder, Ca?o Cristales has been referred as the "river of five colours," "the river that ran away from paradise," and "the most beautiful river in the world." For most of the year, Ca?o Cristales is indistinguishable from any other river - a bed of rocks covered in dull green mosses which are visible below a cool, clear current. However, for a brief period of time every year, the river blossoms in a vibrant explosion of colours.

Lake Baikal - Russia

Lake Baikal sits in Southern Siberia in Russia, located between Irkutsk Oblast to the northwest and the Buryat Republic to the southeast, near the city of Irkutsk. Also known as the "Blue Eye of Siberia," it contains more water than all the North American Great Lakes combined. At 1,637 meters (5,371 ft), Lake Baikal constitutes the deepest lake in the world, and the largest freshwater lake in the world by volume, holding approximately 20 percent of the world's total surface fresh water.

Plitvice Lakes National Park - Croatia

Plitvice Lakes National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. Founded as a national park in 1949, it is situated in the mountainous Karst area of the country. The beautiful protected area extends over 73,350 acres and attracts over 1.2 million visitors a year.

Moeraki Boulders - New Zealand

The Moeraki Boulders are the huge and phenomenally spherical boulders like giant cannon balls found on Koekohe Beach on the coast of New Zealand. They are specially protected as part of a scientific reserve to ensure their lasting beauty and scientific interest. They range in size from about 0.5 to 1 metres (1.6 to 3.3 ft) in diameter, to well over 2 metres (7 ft).

Longji Rice Terrace - China

Village elders have a saying in Longsheng: where there is soil there is a terrace. Two hours ride from the city of Guilin in Guanxi province, the problem of growing rice on steep hills was long ago solved by cutting long terraces, like giant round staircases, directly into the hills, and there has been a rice harvest every year since that time long ago in the thirteenth century.

Aogashima Volcano - Japan

Still considered an active volcano, the last eruption of Aogashima was way back in 1781 and lasted four years through to 1785. The island of Aogashima is a volcanic Japanese island in the Philippine Sea and located approximately 358 kilometers (222 mi) south of Tokyo. With a population of just 205, it is the most isolated inhabited island of the Izu Archipelago.

Ha Long Bay - Vietnam

Meaning literally 'descending dragon bay', Ha Long Bay in Vietnam is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Quang Linh Province. The Bay has an area around 1,553 km2, including 1,960-2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments, and as a result has created an enormously rich biodiversity, and is home to 14 endemic floral species, and 60 endemic faunal species. A truly staggering place.

Lapland - Finland

Any ecotourist planning on visiting Lapland is in for a wonderful experience. For many people Lapland inspires images of thick snow, reindeers and a very festive atmosphere. Whilst it is true that this area of Northern Finland has more than its fair share of snow every year, there is more to do than go skiing or to take your children for a Christmas experience.

The Great Wall of China

One of the New 7 Wonders of the World, it took nearly 2000 years to build and measures in at a staggering 5500 miles in length. What's more, it's the only man made structure that can be seen from space. But, to fully appreciate its magnificence, you'll need to get up close.
