A Fishwives Tale

By Laeti, 10/19/2011 - 05:37

The setting sun cloaked the evening sky in shades of pinky pastel, and lit up the island that dominates the coastline around here. A woman wandering by grabs a knife and in swift strokes, beheads for us the three struggling Kahawai on the beach.

"No taste like it," she sighs in satisfaction. "From the sea to the plate in one hour!" Refusing to take even a single salmon for her trouble however, she then strolls off into the sunset with her Bichon Frise toy dog dancing beside her.

Eco-adventure in Cabo Polonio

By ElenaA, 10/18/2011 - 01:34

As part of my Sabbatical year trips, I went from Buenos Aires to Uruguay, in January 2011.Among the different regions we visited the wild Rocha, whose most interesting highlight was undoubtedly Cabo Polonio, a hamlet and natural reserve located in the eastern coast of Uruguay, that preserves all the wilderness of the country's beautiful coastline.

Cabo Polonio is located at about 250 km from the Capital Montevideo, and about 7 km from the main highway.

"Take into account that great love and great achievements require great risk". Dalai Lama

After one year of Facebook friendship, one day he told me "I love you". The next month he was flying from Rome to Quito. Everybody told us we were crazy, and surely we were a bit. After this first encounter, which lasted 2 weeks, we continued our cyber-romance and five months later we were still together and choosing a new place to meet: Galapagos!!

Ecotourism in Nicaragua

Ecotourism in Nicaragua is complicated. While the country is plentiful in ecoactivities and a number of ecolodges have emerged in recent years, there appears to be little in terms of structure or standards being developed or implemented by the government.

Widely regarded as one of the industry leaders in ecotourism, Costa Rica has topped many travellers' lists as the place to go for an ecotourism holiday. Biking in Norway: up and down until Egersund

From Ogna to the end of the route, in Flekkefjord, the road gets challenging, as it alternates ascents and descents frequently and the wind may not be a good help if it blows on your face. But that's a part of ecotourism and biking in Norway involves adventure and setbacks.

Galapagos (Day 5) - Giant Tortoises

Our last day in the Galapagos. A few of us thought about where we can hide on the boat, so we can stay. Breakfast was early this morning. We were off to the giant tortoise conservation park at 7:15AM. Our luggages were taken off the boat during breakfast and checked through to Baltra airport without us.

Biking in Norway: ecotourism experience

This part of the cycle path is one the most scenic along the whole North Sea Cycle Route, as you encounter the conservation area of Jaeren, whose beaches are the finest in Norway. Long stretches of white sand dunes that meet a blue and impetuous sea, where you can see surfer challenging huge waves. The area is protected and so are its fauna and flora.
