SolaRoad, the street to the future

This is happening! The 1st solar-powered road is open to the public.

Since November 12th 2014, 70m of bike lane in North Amsterdam are equipped with solar panels covered with tempered glass. For the 1st time, roads are used to “harvest” solar energy. The electricity produced is fed into the national grid but in the future could be used to power street and traffic lights or electric vehicles.

Ecotourism in Wetlands - "The Kidneys of the Ecosystem"

Every year on the 2nd of February the world celebrates World Wetlands Day. According to the Ramsar Convention, wetlands are defined as "areas of marsh, fen, peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish or salt, including areas of marine water the depth of which at low tide does not exceed six meters".
